Test Details: Octamer-binding transcription factor 4 (Oct-4) is a member of the POU family of transcription factors, expressed in early embryonic cells, and plays a role in the differentiation of pluripotent germ cells. A high expression level of Oct-4 is characteristic for seminoma and embryonal carcinoma, whereas spermatocytic seminoma lacks the expression of Oct-4.
