Test Details: Immunohistochemical testing is carried out on biopsy/resected tissue specimen. This testing helps to identify specific antigens (proteins) within tissue sections utilizing an antigen-specific antibody .PAX-2 is a member of the paired box family of transcription factors analogous to PAX-8, is also involved in the renal development, and appears slightly later than PAX-8. PAX-2 has a wide expression range and is found in most renal cell carcinomas with the exception of chromophobe renal cell carcinoma and in tumours of Müllerian origin including ovarian, endometrioid, and endocervical carcinomas in addition to lobular breast carcinoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, epididymal tumour and Merkel cell carcinoma.
