FISH for t(14;20), IGH / MAF, Multiple Myeloma [With Plasma cell Enrichment]
Test Details: Multiple myeloma (MM) is a hematopoietic neoplasm characterized by malignant plasma cells (PCs) that accumulate in the bone marrow. A number of different genomic abnormalities are associated with MM. Cytogenetic abnormalities detected are of significant value in classification, risk stratification and management of patients with MM. Cytogenetic assessment of MM is essential for clinical practice and the importance of this evaluation is indicated by the recent incorporation of high-risk cytogenetic abnormalities into the Revised International Staging System for MM. FISH is a simple and useful tool for long term prognosis and survival prediction.
