C0141
C-MYC Gene rearrangement (Burkitt lymphoma)
Test Details: C-MYC rearranged B cell lymphomas with a simple karyotype such as that usually seen in Burkitt lymphoma respond better to chemotherapy, while those with a complex karyotype, as is typically seen in Double Hit Lymphomas (DHLs), show a very poor clinical course and are refractory to conventional chemotherapy and even hematopoietic stem cell transplant. FISH studies are useful adjuncts to complete chromosomal studies. A dual-color break-apart c-MYC probe set can detect most c-MYC breaks, but cannot identify the partner gene(s).
