Test Details: Factor V Leiden (FVL), or factor “5†Leiden, is a genetic mutation that makes the blood more prone to abnormal clotting. It is the most common genetic predisposition to blood clots. The molecular tests demonstrate the presence or absence of FVL or prothrombin mutation and the results are interpreted as normal, heterozygous, or homozygous for the respective mutation.
