Test Details: BRCA1 and BRCA2 germline variant testing detects genes that are hereditary and passed down from mother and father. Germline pathogenic variants (PVs) in the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes confer a significantly increased lifetime risk for the development of both breast and ovarian cancer. This assay is useful for screening family members of known Breast cancer patients. The test consists of sequencing and large rearrangement analyses of the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes using next-generation sequencing (NGS).
