SNHL (Sensorineural Hearing Loss ) - Mitochondrial disease
Test Details: Sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) is a maternally inherited mitochondrial disorder. SNHL is caused by damage to the structures in inner ear or auditory nerve and is the cause of more than 90 percent of hearing loss in adults. Common causes of SNHL include exposure to loud noises, genetic factors, or the natural aging process. Bidirectional nucleotide sequencing is carried out to detect the mutation for diagnosis of the disease.
