Test Details: Androstenedione is an androgen responsible for sexual differentiation in males and females. Production of adrenal Androsteinedione is controlled by ACTH. In this test synthetic ACTH is injected in the body to check the response. An elevated level of androstenedione can be caused by increased adrenal production, indicative of congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH).
