Test Details: The HIV antibody test advised by the centre of disease control (CDC) is the HIV-1/2 antigen/antibody combination immunoassay test. If you test positive for HIV, the CDC advises the following follow-up tests: HIV-1/HIV-2 antibody differentiation immunoassay. This test is to confirm HIV and find out if you have HIV-1 or HIV-2. These can be detected in the blood after exposure so that appropriate treatment can be taken to control the infection. HIV infection causes symptoms like fever, chills, rashes in the body, night sweats, muscle and joint aches, sore throat, lethargy, swollen lymph nodes and mouth ulcers. Indication for HIV testing also include men having sex with men, sex with HIV infected partner, multiple sex partners, injectable drug use.
