Peripheral smear examination for Malarial parasite
Test Details: This test is used to detect malarial parasite and also during the treatment of malaria. Clinical signs and symptoms include fever with chills, profuse sweating, headache, vomiting, pain in abdomen, diarrhoea, muscle and joint pain. Examination of the thin film allows for identification of the species of malarial parasite, whereas thick film examination aids in calculation of malaria percent-parasitemia, which can be used to predict prognosis and monitor response to treatment for patients with malaria.
