Protein Total Serum
Test Details: Total serum protein measures the amount of protein in blood. There are two types of protein i.e. albumin and globulin. It is usually done as a part of metabolic panel. An individual may also need this test when presenting with symptoms of swelling in legs, fatigue, weight loss, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, jaundice and hematuria . Total protein level is low in case of liver and kidney disorder, malnutrition, malabsorption syndrome while it is high in case of certain infections and cancers such as multiple myeloma.
