Test Details: This test is used to determine the level of testosterone in blood. Testosterone total measures both free and bound forms of testosterone in blood. Testosterone is a sex hormone mainly found in men but can also be found in women. Testosterone helps in development of secondary sexual characters such as enlargement of genitals, body hair growth, muscle development and voice deepening. High levels are indicative of tumors of testes and ovaries while low levels suggest testicular injury. This test is usually prescribed when there is history of reduced sex drive, infertility, excessive hair growth and irregularity in periods.
