Clinician will order this test if there is dark coloured urine, light coloured stool, jaundice, nausea, vomiting and itching, etc. Liver profile test are indicated in following conditions- routine monitoring in hepatitis B and hepatitis C positive patient, suspected drug and alcohol abuse, liver cirrhosis, any other gall bladder conditions, etc.
