Microalbumin/ Creatinine Ratio Urine
Test Details: Microalbumin is a small amount of a protein called albumin, normally found in the blood. Creatinine is a normal waste product found in urine. A microalbumin creatinine ratio compares the amount of albumin to the amount of creatinine in the urine. This test is used for assessing the potential for early onset of nephropathy in diabetic patients using random urine specimens. Studies have shown that microalbuminuria is a marker of generalized vascular disease and is associated with stroke and heart disease.
