pH Urine
Test Details: Urine pH test analyses the acidity or alkalinity of urine. pH of urine is affected by disease, diet and medications. pH too high or low can increase the likelihood of developing kidney stones. Urine pH is an overall indicator of health. Typical urine pH is 4.5-8. Acidic pH is seen in diabetic ketoacidosis, diarrhoea, dehydration, starvation. Alkaline pH is seen in respiratory alkalosis, UTI. This test used in assessment of crystalluria, monitoring the effectiveness of alkalinization or acidification of urine for certain medical conditions (e.g. treatment of uric acid nephrolithiasis).
