Test Details: Pericardial fluid culture is a test performed on a sample of fluid from the sac surrounding the heart, to check for presence of any possible infection causing pathogens. Samples of the fluid are placed in various culture media in the laboratory and the media is observed for the growth of microorganisms. This test is performed in case of suspected heart infection or in presence of pericardial effusion.
