Culture Vitreous
Test Details: This test is done to check the presence of the microorganisms in the vitreous fluid. The vitreous humor is located in the posterior segment of the eye and fills the vitreous chamber, which takes up about 80% of the eye. Endophthalmitis is an inflammatory condition of the intraocular cavities (i.e. the aqueous and/or vitreous humor), usually caused by infection. Non-infectious endophthalmitis may result from various causes such as retained native lens material after a surgery or from toxic agents.
