Test Details: Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) is a tumor virus of the Herpes family. For PCR amplification, a highly specific primer pair derived from a well-conserved part of the EBV genome is employed. The test is useful in diagnosis of EBV DNA in patients with infectious mononucleosis, Endemic Burkitt Lymphoma, Nasopharyngeal carcinoma, Malignant nasopharyngeal tumor of the squamous epithelium.
