Test Details: AFB stain is a Gold standard test for diagnosing the presence of Acid-fast bacilli by microscopy. Patient may present with sign and symptoms of fever, cough, weight loss, chills and weakness. It is recommended to collect at least three samples for AFB smear. Sputum sample will be collected on 5 consecutive days. 5-day early morning sputum specimen collection protocol helps to enhance sensitivity and to rule out false negative results.
