Test Details: This test is used as a screening test for Cushing syndrome. Only a small percentage of circulating cortisol is biologically active with majority of cortisol that is protein bound. As plasma cortisol value increases, free cortisol increases and is filtered through the glomerulus. UFC correlates well with concentration of plasma free cortisol.
