M0169
Mycoplasma IgM Antibody
Test Details: This is a test used for recent or past exposure to mycoplasma pneumoniae. This test aids in the diagnosis of atypical pneumoniae, which is a cause of community acquired pneumonia. Primary infection usually occurs in children and reinfection in adults is common. A positive infection indicates prior exposure to mycoplasma. Recent or acute infection can only be documented by a positive mycoplasma IgM result. Presence of mycoplasma IgG antibodies are suggestive of chronic infection.
