Test Details: Leptospira is not visible under ordinary microscope, but can be visualized under dark field microscope and phase contrast microscope. Leptospirosis can be confirmed by culture of the organism from clinical specimens in appropriate media if antibiotic therapy has not been administered before samples are taken. Blood and CSF specimens are generally positive during the first 10 days of the illness.
