EBV(EBER)
Test Details: Epstein-Barr encoding region (EBER) in situ hybridization is the methodology of choice for the detection of the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) in tissue sections. EBER RNA CISH is intended for the detection of Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) RNA by chromogenic in situ hybridization (CISH) and is recommended to be used on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue specimens. Positive staining is indicative of latent EBV infection. The technique demonstrates cells latently-infected with EBV as it hybridizes to abundantly expressed Epstein-Barr virus-encoded RNA (EBER) transcripts which are concentrated in the nuclei of latently-infected cells.
