Test Details: Calcitonin is a hormone produced by parafollicular C-cells of thyroid gland. It helps in regulating calcium levels in the blood. This test is done to measure the level of Calcitonin in the body and also aids in the diagnosis of certain conditions like C-cell hyperplasia, medullary thyroid cancer or in patients with MEN-2 syndrome.
