Haemoglobin Electrophoresis Studies - Abnormal Hb studies by HPLC
Test Details: Hemoglobin (Hb) electrophoresis by HPLC is used to identify the different types of haemoglobin in the blood. Normal types of haemoglobin include: HemoglobinA (HbA) , the most common type of haemoglobin in healthy adults and Haemoglobin F (HbF), that is fetal haemoglobin. Abnormal types of haemoglobin include HbS, HbC, HbE. This test is utilized in the screening and diagnosis of various blood disorders like Anemia, sickle cell disease, thalassemia, etc. It is also helpful in monitoring the treatment in patients with these blood disorders.
