Thyroglobulin antibody [Anti-TG]
Test Details: Ant thyroglobulin antibody is a test to measure antibodies to a protein called thyroglobulin produced by the cells of the thyroid gland. The presence of these antibodies indicates thyroid gland damage caused by the body's immune system. It also helps to distinguish autoimmune thyroid diseases from other forms of thyroid diseases. The Anti-thyroglobulin antibody test is done in conditions like goitre (enlarged thyroid gland), thyroid dysfunction, abnormal reports of free or total T3, T4, TSH (thyroid hormones). This test is also helpful in monitoring of treatment of autoimmune thyroid diseases like Graves’ disease or Hashimoto thyroiditis.
