HLA typing Molecular B51 locus
Test Details: HLA B51 is associated with Behcet's disease. Behçet's disease is an inflammation of the wall of blood vessels that can involve the eyes, skin and the rest of the body. Homozygotes of B5 locus showed considerably high risk for disease indicating a possible gene-dose effect. HLA-B51 may also play a hereto unrecognized role in either inducing, modulating, or upregulating other forms of autoimmune disease to cause a 20 fold increase in HLA-51 prevalence.
